maak het!, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

Freelance journalist and author of The Hip Green Machteld Stilting's latest book Maak het! (Make it!) is from May 1 in the shop!

Make it! helps you get started with stories of inspirational women (one of which I am) who have dared to step into their own business. They tell what they do, how they have set up their business, handling the Internet and combine work and family.

Next Saturday we will we celebrate the launch of the book, together with all people who have participated in shaping the book.

the garden

the garden, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

Actually I have a lot of work to do in my home. On Friday, Masami Kita with her Japanese team will visit my place for a photoshoot and it will be featured in a Dutch edition of the Japanse interior book Editions de Paris, but the house is not quite ready for this. Pippa's bedroom is a (constant) mess and to be honest the whole house could use a spring cleaning.

After a few hours I decided to have a little break in the garden, because it's such a sunny day. I moved to the bench to have a cold drink and I took my crochet basket, because I have quite a few orders to go. During this break I just worked on a pillow for Silvia from Sisi.

After an hour I went on my bike to the supermarket, because the fridge is empty and then back to work. First I checked my mail at my workspace on the attic (wrong; I can't help drifting to the web) and had a good view on the white bench and greenest grass ever in the backyard. The yellow mossy stuff that once used to be green grass is replaced by a new turf and what we call a velvet tree is planted.

The garden is flirting with me and you know what, I'll do the housekeeping tomorrow.

another row of plates

another row of plates, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

Yesterday I hung the plates from Intermezzo and another cute plate, still waiting for a prominent spot on the wall plates. Fifteen minutes, four new trust the white rabbit platehangers, a few nails and a ruler, was all I needed to clear this job.

A few seconds after I had hung the plates I was still holding my hands near like a safety net, in case it wasn't completely safe. Nothing happend so I guessed I could trust the white rabbit, as the brand name suggests.

The white rabbit from the Easter postcard in the card holder is another story...

at usine

at usine, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

After a busy Easter weekend at Villa Augustus, a lunch at grand cafe Usine in the Lighthouse in Eindhoven, was a good excuse to have a closer look at my wood & wool pied de stalle design. The interior of the former Philips factory (therefore the French translation usine) is quite basic and industrial. On the other hand the furniture is colored and different. The beautiful painting by Jasper Krabbé in the lounge part is truly divine. It covers the whole wall and the colors are very soft and surprising. The perfect place for another drink at the end of the afternoon and with a nice view on the new building across the street. It looks spectacular and according to the Sissy Boy lady, where I bought this green céjoli lamp, it's called the Blob. The terrace with dozens of my favorite Fermob chairs was unfortunately still in the shadow ...

easter breakfast

easter breakfast, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

When I came home late last night from my job at Villa Augustus, Pippa had already made the Easter breakfast table as a surprise for me and I was thrilled and proud to see it looked perfectly. I only added the beautiful colored eggs I brought home from work.

In the morning we boiled some fresh eggs because the colored ones have been boiled days ago and a boiled egg should be fresh and warm.

The beautiful fruit and flower plates and aluminum jug were an 'Easter' gift from Henk. He bought them yesterday at Intermezzo in Dordrecht.

The sweet surprises made it a good start to Easter.

happy easter

happy easter, originally uploaded by wood & wool stool.

To be honest I'm not too fond of over-decorated easter branches, so I've made my own version with cherry blossom and lucky hare made by vergeet-me-niet. Also a little 'finger puppet' knitted hare, a pink rooster whistle (without the flute) and a funny windup hare in front, who makes somersaults.

To make the Easter atmosphere complete, there are of course some chocolate eggs, the white and milk chocolate eggs always run out faster and that's ok because I prefer the leftover dark eggs anyway.
